COLLEGE FOR ALL
A word that describes my family is hardworking because we have never given up even though we face challenges. For example, we came from Guatemala to start a new life in Oakland. It was hard because we didn’t know English or the community.
One opportunity I’ve had is to get in school. I received help to learn English. Now I can explain myself and communicate my needs. In 7th grade, I graduated from ELD and now I’m in regular class so that makes me feel successful.
An issue me and my family have is that we are immigrants and we don’t have as much opportunities as a citizen. Also my family doesn’t speak English so its difficult to them get a good job. However my parents are supporting me to have a good education. They are working so hard to give us what we need. That’s the reason why I want to go to college so I can have a good job and support them in the future like they support me right now. I will love to go to San Francisco State University and study architecture. my dream is to become an architect because I want to design my own house and help renovate my community by making new buildings. I don't really care if I’m an immigrant because I know that if I work hart to reach my dream i will accomplish it and I am going to be able to help my family.
To me, college means an opportunity to a better life and to be same one in life, to have a good job and have money to support your family. I want my family to be proud of me. And to be the first one in my family to go to college.
